ALL MUST DIE ZINE

Heils Gerald, to beginning I just want to tell you that your albums are really crushing, they have sound of 100 tanks going though a battlecamp... you know, an eminent chaos!!!

Gerald - Thanks!! We aim to please! War is a big part of our inspiration to play this style of music... It's not something we try to glorify but it is a harsh reality for many people worldwide.

When I listen "Dawn Of The Impurity Design, I can notice that it has a sound much more worked than "End Of Blind Obedience", which has a more cruel sound. I have a little feeling that "End..." was recorded in a hurried way which doesn't affect it!... I think this makes that the band sound with a power and strength and feeling like I was listening and watching you live... what can you tell me about this?

Gerald - You are exactly right as far as "End.." being rushed. We were still piecing songs together when we recorded that album. I am still not happy with the production. "Dawn..", however, was a bit less technical musically so it was a lot easier to record and it's still my favorite of the two.

Tell me about the new material. I know that you enter some days ago to the studio to record some parts, can I ask directly?... will come the same chaos in the new work? Sincerely it'll be a disappointment for me if you don't obtain the same that in previous works! Hehehe!!!

Gerald - Our new recording will be called "Pacified By Oceans Of Blood" and will include such songs as "KNEEL BEFORE NO ONE", "SLASH UPON GOD’S THROAT", "SAVAGE RETRIBUTION", "A PYRE TO CAST THE BODY OF MANKIND", "THE ARCHETYPE OF ALL RELIGIONS DEFILED", "TRIUMPHANT FLAWLESS CRUCIFIXION" and "EFFORTLESS IS MAN'S DEFEAT" to name a few. If anything I think we've gotten better as a band. The new material will be much heavier and faster than the last albums. The recording is taking a while but it will be worth the wait.

Tell me about Peter Pneumatic, the guy who has a voice really schizophrenic. What impression did you have the first time that you listened him vociferate?... I imagine that you cried because of the emotion... Ja Ja... Talking seriously, what do you think about him, positively and negatively?

Gerald - Pete approached me to start a band with him around October of 2001 and I was instantly caught up in his insanity, passion and vision. He had lyrics, the band name and logo, artwork and all kinds of energy and, of course, his voice was, and still is, amazing. I would have to say that Pete is the main driving force behind Thy Flesh Consumed, although we are all dedicated psychopaths!

About Randy Jeddry, Dave Burns and Dan Jamieson... what can you tell me about them? What about alcoholic parties with hot womens??? Ja Ja Ja!! Talk me about the rehearsals... the best beers!

Gerald - Thy Flesh Consumed has parted ways with Randy for personal reasons... I still get along with Randy but we had different ideas for Thy Flesh Consumed. He certainly was a showman! He is still a big promoter/supporter of metal here in Halifax and now plays in a band called Despot. Dan was first to join Pete and I. I had played with him in a sludge/doom style band called Sloth. Thy Flesh Consumed was an absolutely different style for him, but he was always influenced and interested in faster, more aggressive types of music anyway. So began the material you hear on "Dawn..". Dave had been playing guitar in a local Black Metal band, Burning Moon, as well as bass guitar in an Iron Maiden cover band, Ready For Eddy. There was no question that he was a phenominal guitar player and a maniac to boot! We asked if he wanted to join us, or die, and the rest is history. Dave wrote a lot of tunes on "End.." and has added a lot of technicallity and precision to our sound, especially on our newer material. Ross Vickers is our new bass player... he played drums for a technical death/thrash band, Terratomb, was vocalist for Solemn Passing and played bass for another local act, Maelstrom. I couldn't believe he wanted to play with us but I guess the bass was Ross' first choice of instrument. He's an incredible musician as well and has also helped writing some of our latest tunes. We are comedians in our rehersal space and of course we love to drink beer and lots of it!! We spend almost as much time joking around as we do playing some days, but we can get down to blasting when we have to. We are currently drinking right now!!!

For this new work, how are the label offers? Is there an oppourtunity to work with Civilian Death Network Records again? What do you think that you can offer for a label put the eyes in you band? And obviously, what do you ask in barter?

Gerald - Right now it's in the air as to who is going to release "Pacified.." There are some options but we'll have to wait and see. What can we offer a label? Well, we grind like maniacs and we will take it on the road, time and money permitting. We all work 40 hour/week jobs but we're dedicated to the brutality! I know that I'd appeciate a record label that could set up shows for us and give us some merch to sell, maybe help pay for a recording... that's about it.

This is a typical question that the bands are tired to answer... but as in Chile a little people know your band and other are asking... what about the lyrics? What is there behind "Let Mankind Bleed" or "End Of Blind Obedience".

Pete - The idea behind Let Mankind Bleed is that mankind will be the cause of it's own demise, through the destruction of the earth. Human greed, pollution, and the insatiable need to consume every resource on this planet is beyond a huge problem today. People don't realize, or care about the impact they have on our depleating life support system. End Of Blind Obedience says it all in the title. Think for yourself, crush anyone that says otherwise. I attempt to write lyrics which cover concepts such as real world problems, self-hatred, self-destruction, misanthropy, war and anti-religious themes.

I can imagine that you have a lot of time playing drums and as a member of Thy Flesh Consumed, but what has been the biggest disappointment during this time? Things have been easy or difficult for you as a band? Do you feel satisfied with the chosen way?

Gerald - I was forced early on in life (16 years old) to play guitar instead of drums. I wasn't able to take up drumming until I was in my mid 20's. I still enjoy playing guitar but I often wish I could have started playing the drums earlier.
As a band we are renting a jamspot by the hour, which is annoying and sometimes difficult to organise. Also our recording has been plagued with delays. Other than that we are eager to decimate your eardrums!!

In this moment I'm writing the questions and I'm listen weakling "Dead As Dreams" A great album... one of my favorite bands... what happens over there, what's the album that really kills you?

Gerald - 1349 "Hellfire" is on top right now for me... Fucking insane!!! Also Psycroptic "The Scepter of the Ancients" still kicks my ass... I can't wait for thier new one. I'm also listening to Defleshed "Reclaim the Beat", Arkhon Infaustus "Perdition Insanabilis", Belphegor "The Goatriech-Fleshcult", Despised Icon "The Healing Process" + a million more!

Canada characterizes by having excellent bands, so you may have a big level of competion... but which do you think is the true cause of this?

Gerald - I don't look at our scene here in Halifax, or internationally, as a competition. I enjoy all types of music, the more insane the better. We derive influence from other bands but we're not out to act like we're better than anyone else.

Inside of the book of the CD "End Of Blind Obedience" we can find a crucfied christ... crippled, surrounded by skulls, bones... can you tell me the meaning of this for you?

Peter - Alot of our lyrics attack all religions. I focus on christianity mainly because it is a dominant religion here in North America. I wanted to create an image which completely disrespects the faith.

I remember and I know (I don't know if I'm wrong) that you have other bands apart of Thy Flesh Consumed. Tell us a little of this... now if I'm wrong load your gun and put a bullet in my head! Ja Ja Ja Ja!!!

Gerald - Currently Thy Flesh Consumed is our only band, however I used to play in several bands: Existench, System Shit, Useless Solution, Sloth, The Wankin Family, Wohedness, Ill-Logic and Gorbage. I've had as many as 3 bands going at one time... I'm gratefull to have just one right now!

I'd like to thanx by your time and dedication for these questions... the best for you and Thy Flesh Consumed, the following space if yours to say goodbye...

Gerald - Thanks for the interview and good luck with All Must Die... Prepare to be Pacified By Oceans Of Blood!!
